Blue Collar Blues

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

Aint no place to run - no escape from my misery

Well, I've done a lot of weeping, Lord, you know I've carried so much pane

I've pushed my share of vinyl - and I've drilled holes in the rain

These blue-collar blues are killing me - Lord, there's got to be a better way!

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

Aint no place to run - no escape from my misery

I ended up in Kansas - setting glass in Wichita

Oh man, that shop was hoppin', Lord, that plate was pretty raw

If it weren't for my friend Timmy, I'd still be at the Union Hall

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

If my cup lets go the light's gonna' come down on me

Aint no place to run - no escape from my misery

Every Dog Has His Day

I've been into Rock n Roll ever since I was just a kid

I used to listen to the radio when I should have been asleep in bed

I used to play every day I used to dream that I was on a stage

Playing loud to the crowd who needs an education anyway?

I had a dream that I was rich and I was diggin' on the social scene

I had a super-model on my lap in the back of my limousine

I had a date and I was late I called to tell her she would have to wait

Riding round, windows down when I woke up I was feeling great!

You know I'm not gonna' be left behind

It's just a matter of time - every dog has his day

I went down to the liquor store to buy a pack of cigarettes

They saw me coming and they locked the door how lonely can a poor boy get?

I saw a girl who rocked my world I asked her if she had the time of day

She walked by, no reply tell me why it has to be this way

You know I'm not gonna' be left behind

It's just a matter of time - every dog has his day

Always On My Mind

I spent such a long time waiting for a girl like you

And baby, you're so fine… You're the only thing I want to do

I used to spend my days dreaming of a better life

Now that you've come my way I know that everything's all right

You know you're always on my mind I know good love is hard to find

The Good Lord is on my side He's with me everywhere I go

And I am satisfied I'm happy just because I know

The past is behind me now… and the future's looking great

I wanna' show you how… Come on now don't hesitate

You know you're always on my mind I know good love is hard to find

Big Brown Eyes

Well the first time that I saw you - I knew that I was in love

Now I know I will never be alone

It feels so good when I hold you - I won't ever let you go

I'm so glad that I have you for my own

There is no one who has loved me - even half as much as you

And you know no man could love you more than me

When you tell me that you love me - it's all that I want to hear

Baby you're everything a man could need

Every moment you are with me… - is like a bit of heaven on Earth

Big brown eyes, and hair of gold - can't stop thinking 'bout my little girl

Baby you don't have to worry - Just as long as you're with me

Please believe that it's gonna' be alright

If I ever was without you - I don't know what I would do

You're the one who keeps me satisfied

Every moment you are with me… - is like a bit of heaven on Earth

Big brown eyes, and hair of gold - can't stop thinking 'bout my little girl

California Bound

It doesn't matter where I go - I've got to be myself

I don't care if I do it alone

Of all the places I have gone - California's the best

We all need a place that we can call home

Well people say that I'm a fool - because I can't sit still

I guess I was meant to be on the road

I have to say that I've had fun - I know I always will

I meet women everywhere that I go

I'm not responsible for your happiness - you're not responsible for mine

Yes, we had some fun, now it's over - did you think you could take over my life?

It's time that I was moving on - so many things to do

There are places I have never seen

I'd take you with me if I could - the choice is up to you

You know how much fun you'll have with me

You know it's getting late and I've got things to do - just take a look into my eyes

If you're afraid to go, don't worry - sometimes pain is a blessing in disguise

Every Day

Every day - every night - we know when - the time is right

We are young - we are free - we have found - our destiny

You've been thinking about love

And I'm hoping that I'm the one you're thinking of

Out of mind, out of sight, you are on - my mind tonight

I can see you're the one stick with me - we're gonna' have some fun

I've been waiting for so long,

now I've got you - I'm never gonna do you wrong

Easy come, easy go, we have time - let's take is slow

Coming up - going down, you keep my - feet on the ground

There's no time to hesitate, the world is waiting - tomorrow might be too late

I'm Alive

I remember when I was down - my life was such a mess

Didn't have a place to go home to

I couldn't find anything at all to cure my loneliness

I can't believe the things I had to go thru

Broken Dreams are healing - It's getting better every day

Seeing is believing - I'm alive and doing great

I used to have some friends, but they weren't friends at all

They didn't really give a damn about me

I got away from them when I could and I'm having a ball

I sure hope they're doing well without me

Broken Dreams are healing - It's getting better every day

Seeing is believing - I'm alive and doing great

Sometimes I Wonder

Sometimes I wonder what you're thinking -sometimes there aint that much to say

You know that I care how you're feeling - that I'm so glad you've come my way

You keep me warm with the fire in your eyes - I'm just a fool for your smile

I know there's no use in explaining - I know they just can't understand

You keep me alive with the passion in your heart - I'd be a fool to depart

Sometimes the words just come so easy - sometimes they just don't come at all

Do you get tired of hearing love songs? Should I be doing this at all?

You make me smile when you say that you are mine - I think of you all the time

The Way You Treat Me

When I saw you this morning - made me feel so sad

When I saw you this morning - made me feel so sad

The way you treat me, baby… it 'aint nothin' but bad

When you said that you loved me - girl you told me a lie

When you said that you loved me - girl you told me a lie

I've been put to the test… I don't even know why

I don't know where you're going - but I know where you've been

I don't know where you're going - but I know where you've been

The way you treat me, baby… girl you know it's a sin

What Are You Gonna' Do?

Hard up, broke down - it aint no way to have fun

Strung out, locked in - aint no doubt I was coming undone

Unloved, unknown - under a heavy load

I thought I was having fun; I was too young to know

Soup lines, jail time - just let the good times roll

Disease, enemies - the party's over now you're on your own

Despised, denied - just hiding from the light

It all started with a little smoke - I lost my will to fight

What are you gonna' do?

Too much, too fast - too young to die this way

Be smart, don't start - you won't be missing nothin' anyway

Last chance, last hope - do what you wanna' do

You can live any way you want - the choice is up to you

What are you gonna' do?

Poverty & Pain

I'm finding what I've been seeking - for so long, for so long

I'm running, can't stop singing - that old song, same old song

And it seems that all I ever do is waste away the day - nothing left to do!

And it seems that all I ever find is poverty & pain - what's it mean to you?

Get me through the night - it's gonna' be alright - keep on burning bright

Dreaming just aint appealing when you know, really know

Hiding all our feelings just won't go - this I know

When the darkness grips my mind it makes me so afraid - what am I to do?

And just when I think I'm done, and all my debts are paid - I find I missed a few

Get me through the night - it's gonna' be alright - keep on burning bright

When my life is over I will know, I will know

The answers to my questions He will show, He will show

And when the world is crying - crushed beneath His hand - will it be too late?

And when all the generations bow before Him then - you will know your fate!

Get me through the night - it's gonna' be alright - keep on burning bright

The Venice Beach Boogie

Going to California to see the freaks on Venice Beach

Going to California to see the freaks on Venice Beach

They've got nothing to learn - they aint go much to teach

Standing on the boardwalk, watch the weirdoes walking by

Standing on the boardwalk, watch the weirdoes walking by

They may not be pretty, but at least their getting by

If you go to Venice, I'm sure you'll have a real good time

If you go to Venice, I'm sure you'll have a real good time

And if you see me playing guitar, be sure to stop and drop a dime

Them Downright Nasty Blues

Aint no question of who's to blame - aint no reason to explain

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose

Sometimes you've gotta' live and love to sing the blues

It can't be any better than you will let it be - won't be any harder as long as you believe

And give your love to them downright nasty blues

Take a look, take a chance - don't wait around for true romance

Don't be afraid to say "goodbye"

Time is of the essence, but the blues will never die

And when you think that you are going insane - that you have lost and nothing's to gain

Keep on singing them downright nasty blues
